Ian Gilchrist is a musician and part time
doctor in Liverpool where he lives with his wife Lucy and their two
boys.
His passion for music emerged at the age of 12 when he started to
teach himself the piano, moving on to learn flute, guitar and more
recently saxophones, recorders and Celtic whistles. He has always
been interested in writing music and recording and started off with
short soundtracks for dramas and puppet shows, some song writing,
and a mini concept work. He performs with friends at social events
and cabarets and does the occasional session work, having played sax
on albums by Pete Caulfield and Alwyn Wall.
He is an active member of Frontline Church in Liverpool, and plays
regularly in the band there. "Journey from
Slavery" is Ian's first CD project and with his belief
in music as a potential vehicle for healing, this is the fulfilment
of a longing to write and record music that has a "therapeutic"
edge to it.
His music has been described as refreshing, inspiring,
healing and cathartic and many have commented on how they have
been deeply touched by what they feel is a spiritual dimension to
his playing.
